Contemporary International is seeking experienced Desktop Publishers who will create and manage the design strategy for a training programme that will be delivered to a high volume of security personnel working for a major international event in London next year. The Desktop Publishers will work closely with Curriculum Writers to create high-quality graphic output for print, video and multimedia. This position will report to the Development & Training Manager.

Key responsibilities:-

  • Work closely with the Development & Training Manager and other stakeholders to discuss objectives.
  • Think creatively to produce ideas and concepts for training materials including PowerPoint presentations, booklets, handouts and a variety of other training materials.
  • Estimate the time required to complete the work by gathering information and data through research and choose the appropriate media and style to meet the client’s objectives.
  • Respond to various requests from other teams, maintain a brand and graphic archive for company-wide use and edit a comprehensive photo and video archive.
  • Liaise with printers and other providers in the production, proofing and delivery of training materials.
  • Contract outside resources when necessary and track job costs and resources.
  • Work at exceptional speed under pressure, present finalised ideas and concepts to clients and adhere to stringent graphic design guidelines within a tight timeframe.
  • Proof read and visually check for errors and non-conformance to guidelines before sharing.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Traditional and electronic graphic design skills necessary.
  • Photography, photo-editing, proof-reading and copy editing skills preferred.
  • Ability to shoot, edit, and stream video preferred.
  • Results oriented and committed to meeting deadlines. Proactive in presenting or ‘pitching’ ideas and designs to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance work on numerous projects and/or tasks at the same time.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for quality output.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a team, flexibility in approach to work.
  • Comfort in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment where roles change and expand to meet operational needs.

Education: Relevant practical design and management experience, degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a fast-paced, dynamic design environment.
Language: Excellence in English (verbal and written communication).
PC Aptitude: Design: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Quark Xpress.  Microsoft Office programmes with advanced PowerPoint skills.
